GMRS and Amateur Radio Operators needed for the Groveland Grind Bike Event Radio Support Safety Team. Training and support will be provided to all GMRS Radio Operators who participate with the TCARES (Tuolumne County Radio and Electronics Society) team. Whether you are a seasoned radio operator or new to the world of GMRS radios, we will ensure that you have the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively communicate and navigate the radio channels. By joining the TCARES team, you will not only contribute to the safety of our neighborhood but also gain valuable experience in radio communication and emergency response protocols. Our 4th Groveland Grind on Saturday, June 8th!The Ultimate Gravel/MTB Cycling Adventure Returns to Groveland, CA!The Groveland Grind is a Yosemite Area Adventure Ride on mixed terrain(pavement, broken pavement, dirt, ruts and gravel)on Yosemite National Park’s doorstep! Three amazing routes with amazing views to choose from- Ride the 48 miles Long route- The Rumble up to Trumbull(Peak), the 30 miles medium route or the 21 miles Short route through the majestic Stanislaus National Forest on historic sections of the original roads and railroads to Yosemite! Groveland is just 2 to 3 hrs from San Jose/San Francisco/Santa Cruz/Sacramento and 1 to 2 hrs from the Central Valley.
The event takes place at Thousand Trails Yosemite Lakes, 31191 Hardin Flat Rd., Groveland, CA, 5 miles from the “Big Oak Flat” entrance to Yosemite National Park and next to the South Fork of the Tuolumne River! Camping is available for tents, vans, RV’s and trailers, please see ADDITIONAL INFO below.
The Groveland Grind supports the Groveland Trail Heads and their development of a mountain bike specific single-track trail system that is inclusive while promoting health(physical and mental), outdoor recreation, adventure and economic development throughout the Groveland area. We’re trying to raise $20K to help fund our next mountain bike trail in the Ferretti Trails trail system!
ROUTES
You must be in good physical condition for all routes.
Safety and fun go hand-in-hand, and there will be both aid stations, medical personnel, route marshals, communication and transportation if needed. Click on route to view map with aid stations and route marshals locations. We will be providing a downloadable files (gpx and kml) to all participants before the event.
Short route – 21 miles, covering approx 2,200 feet of elevation gain.
Medium route– 30 miles, covering approx 3,400 feet of elevation gain.
Long route, the Rumble up to Trumbull(peak) – 48 miles, covering approx 5,400 feet of elevation gain.
The Long and Medium routes go through beautiful Hazel Green Ranch(private property)which borders Yosemite. Please do not ride through Hazel Green Ranch before the event, our permit is for June 8th, 2024 and it would jeopardize the event and future events. This section is highlighted with a red line on the maps for the Long and Medium routes.
Routes are subject to change as directed by the US Forest Service or as conditions dictate.
TIMING AND AWARDS
This is a timed ride with awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each category. (Note, there is NO cash purse for this event)
All admissions include an event-tee, after ride food, non alcoholic beverages, snacks and a raffle ticket. - Join other riders and the Groveland Trail Heads for a weekend of fun.
- Amazing Showers and Bathrooms. Other amenities include minigolf, volleyball, basketball, billiards, horseshoes, shuffleboard and more.
- We have reserved ONLY 50 camping spots together. They are $50 each night.
- 150 yards away are 15 RV or Trailer spots. They are $70 each night.
- You must have registered for the Groveland Grind before making a camping reservation.
- You are limited to two cars per reservation.
- All reservations will be done through Yosemite Lakes NOW. All spots will be assigned Friday June 7th on a first-come-first serve basis when you arrive.

- Friday Check-in is at 2:00pm
- If you are only camping Friday Night, we ask that you are packed up by Noon on Saturday.
- If you are only camping Saturday Night, you will be able to set up at 12:01pm.
